Rebuilding communities in mountain areas

Purpose

Life in many mountain communities was severely disrupted by the conflicts, with villages badly damaged and agricultural production destroyed. Poor living conditions and inadequate food supplies hit children particularly hard. Slowly these communities are being rebuilt, but they still desperately need our help.

Actions taken

In 2009 we teamed up with local partners, to carryout a programme of helping to rebuild  life in the village of Zamsoy in the Caucasus mountains. MARCCH funded the provision of livestock and agricultural equipment to village families with children, with the aim of improving nutritional levels amongst the young.

Future plans

We shall be earmarking new opportunities for contributing to help as many villagers as we can, with a particular emphasis on the needs of the children in the communities concerned.
